Eucalyptus globulus is native to Australia with blue-green, almost leathery leaves. Typically taken as a tea or tincture and can also be used in topical applications, facials, hydro-steams and aromatherapy. Eucalyptus oil acts on nerve receptors in the mucosa of the nose and sinuses in a way that causes the release of mucus. It can be used for cleaning and as an industrial solvent, as an antiseptic, for deodorizing, in some cough drops, toothpaste and decongestants. It has insect-repellent properties, and serves as an active ingredient in some commercial mosquito-repellents.
